A Landmark Moment for Mental Health in Sport and Physical Activity.

Mind is proud to share a significant milestone for the sport and physical activity sector – mental health has been embedded into the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) occupational professional standards.

For the first time, coaches and swimming teachers will develop mental health knowledge as part of their qualifications. This is a major step forward in creating more inclusive, supportive and accessible environments for everyone, particularly people experiencing mental health problems.

To support the sector, Mind has developed free licenced mental health content through its Sport England System Partnership. The content maps directly to the new standards and can be easily integrated into courses and qualifications.

Following a successful pilot with nine NGBs and training providers, this work will already reach over 10,000 coaches and swimming teachers every year.
